Alex Jacobs

Alex Jacobs has been studying Qi Gong since he was 19 years old, studying with teachers from both East and West. After studying Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan he decided to train to become a Chinese Medicine practitioner and is now a qualified Acupuncturist, Herbalist, Tuina Massage practitioner and teacher of Chinese medicine self-help (Yang Sheng) including Chinese dietary therapy and Qi Gong. He founded the London Chinese Medicine Meetup group in 2011 to teach self-help techniques to the public.

After organising its annual conference for 8 years, he became the president of the leading voluntary regulator of Chinese herbalists in the UK, the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine. He also currently teachers acupuncture at the City College of Acupuncture, London.

Alex has a particular interest in how all the disciplines of Chinese medicine fit together and can aid the public to manage their own health through self-help training. East Asia has a rich tradition of Chinese medicine self-help, largely embedded within its local traditions and cultures.

It is Alex’s inspiration to bring this knowledge over and find ways to integrate it into the practice of Chinese medicine to empower patients and the public to have more control over their own health.
